Spring Dance Concert Featured Student Choreography
Student choreography was on display over the weekend in the Spring Dance Concert, which featured the Mélange and Repertory Dance Companies and the Concert Dance Class.
Each dance was chosen via an audition process. Choreographers developed the concept and cast the dancers for their pieces under the mentorship of their directors.
The Student Choreographers were: Marielle Angeles, Maya Faust, Joy Fei, Zoe Fledderman, Fran Gao, Rowan Hite, Emily Hsiao, Elaina Kravchenko, Kacper Kurek, Nicolette Lagen, Erin Liu, Victoria Nenadovic, Sophia Perlin, Meredith Polonsky, Dowon Shim, April Tan, Nicolett Tarnorutskaya, Alyssa Weber and Gloria Xing.
There was also Guest Artist Choreography from Hot Crowd Dance.

Calling All Fashionistas: Fashion Show Is TOMORROW Night! Dress your best and come check out the 8th annual Stevenson Styler Fashion Show. The show is slated for a 7 p.m. start TOMORROW in the Performing Arts Center and will feature the latest looks from local retailers as well as amazing student-designed looks made by students in the Clothing and Design classes. Admission is $5 and all proceeds will benefit Dress For Success which is a not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Student collections will be highlighted for students who submit more than three looks they have made and designed in class. The fashion show is produced by members of the Stevenson Styler Fashion Club and head producers Anjini Thomas and Bennett Thyren. Over the past few weeks, students have been busy styling looks for the models, deciding on what hair and make-up trends they will use on the models and deciding on the theme. This year the theme is “Fashion In Transit,” which was chosen to highlight the fast-moving and evolving trends we see in the fashion industry. |

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week At Stevenson!
Teachers were greeted with balloons and happy, fun signs while walking into school today as STUCO helped kick off Teacher Appreciation Week in a big way!
Junior Kate Hales (pictured right), the public relations officer of the Student Council also took over Stevenson’s main Instagram account to provide a “behind-the-scenes” look at the festivities.
“It is my job is to be the external media presence for Student Council,” Hales said “I’m excited for many aspects of (Teacher Appreciation Week). We have many surprises and treats planned for the teachers throughout this week. I’m excited to see reactions to these events and for teachers to feel appreciated as they are so deserving and hardworking.”
All of the officers from STUCO collaborated to plan the event but Hales pointed out that Sowmika Mannava, the historian of Student Council, and her team have worked extra hard to make sure that plan gets put into motion with activities all week.
“It takes a lot of planning especially since there are events every day this week,” Hales said. “Student Council has allowed me to create so many fun memories and meet new people. If you want to plan events like this, join Student Council! The Application for next year is due TODAY!
TOMORROW’S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK ACTIVITY: Dress Up As Your Favorite Teacher Spirit Day. There will also be a cute note with candy in every teacher’s mailbox.
eSports Team Places At IHSA State Finals
Stevenson’s eSports Team had a strong showing at IHSA State Finals over the weekend.
The Smash Crew Team, including Majid Abdelkareem, Michael Chen, Ethan Cloonan, Ojas Dahalkar, Alexander Goldstein, Dave King, Yuito Tao and Adrian Volfson ended in fourth place. Angelo Abano, finished in seventh place for Smash Singles. Santiago Morales helped coach each group and the Rocket League team, made up of Marc Geiger, Tony Hwang, Micahel King and Tucker Etezel, ended in the Top Six.
Prior to the State Finals, the Smash Brothers Team took first place in the PlayVS. Illinois Tournament, made up of 99 teams from Illinois high schools. The team defeated Willowbrook in a Best-Of-5 Finals. In the PlayVS. tournament the team is made of three players. Stevenson winners were Angelo Abano, Santiago Morales and Yuito Tao.

It was reported in Friday’s Daily Digest that in Rocket League recently, Stevenson took second place. Michael King also played for Stevenson.

Sign up for Spring Fling, an end-of-the-school-year celebration where students can socialize and build teams to go head-to-head in kickball, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and cricket!
This year, Spring Fling will be held after school on FRIDAY, MAY 19. Team registration has begun, and Captains forms need to be submitted by the new extended deadline of WEDNESDAY at 11:59 p.m.
Anyone can form a team with 10 to 14 total players. Teams must be co-ed.

Sports Results Girls Badminton: The Patriots (18-0, 6-0) participated in the NSC Championship and swept the competition, winning the conference championship at every level. Lindsey Wang defeated her opponent in the No. 1 singles spot, followed by Veronica Ornatsky in the No. 2 singles position, Laasya Aduri in the No. 3 spot and Riddhi Mallela in the lineup in the No. 4 singles spot. On the doubles side, Katherine Li/Anvi Harish won in the first doubles position, as did Ruhi Sachar/Nivedya Nair in the No. 2 doubles spot, Meghana Dixit/Resham Rajuesh at No. 3 doubles and Katie Moy/Michelle Zhang at No. 4 doubles. Next up for the badminton team is the IHSA Sectional competition on Thursday in the Fieldhouse, starting at 4:45 p.m. Boys Volleyball: Stevenson (20-6, 4-0) hosted a triangular with Lakes and Hononegah and split the night, defeating Lakes, 25-20, 25-19 and losing to Hononegah 20-25, 22-25. Libero Onon Bayasakh tallied 11 digs on the night, followed by outside Sam Nuudel who had 13 digs, 12 kills, 1 block assist and 1 solo block. Setters David Wang and Ryan Dong combined for 102 attempts with 37 assists. Ramsey Engel contributed 2 kills, 9 digs, 3 block assists and 1 solo block. Yugank Arora added 6 kills and 3 block assists and Ramiz Izzalov finished with 4 kills in both matches. Next up for the Patriots is a conference match at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Zion-Benton. Girls Lacrosse: Stevenson (10-4, 2-1) competed against Huntley on Friday, winning 9-8 in overtime. Lili Sorenson led the way with 6 goals and 1 assist including the game-tying goal with 7 seconds left. Sorenson also tallied the assist on the game-winning goal by Teagan Hendricks who had 2 goals on the night. Vanessa Magsino added 1 goal and 2 assists for the Patriots, while Jessica Youkahanna contributed 1 assist. The Patriots had another strong defensive day with Julia Martin led the way with5 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls. Boys Track And Field: The Patriots traveled to Northbrook for the Glenbrook North Relays and finished second as a team with a total score of 104. Stevenson started strong with the 110 meter high hurdle relay, placing first with Marcus Caselberry, Thomas Simmons, Lohith Varikuti and Nick Gawor with a time of 1:07.78. In the low hurdle 110 meter shuttle, the Patriots finished second with a time of 1:01.78 which included Simmons, Varikuti, Zach Hersch and Gawor. In the 4×1600 meter relay, the team of Andrew Brandt, Rocky Klein, Dylan Zimmerman and Luke Reaume finished third with a time of 19:27.18. In the field events, Stevenson dominated the shot put (49.54) relay, the discus (152.38) relay, and throwers (49.48) relay placing first in all three events with Ethan Aghakhan, Anthony Adams, Larry Han and Remy Herrejon. The Patriots finished off the meet placing second in the triple jump with Alex Xie, Alex Moser, Alex Chang and Jacob DeGuzman and a score of 47.01. In the high jump relay, Stevenson finished third with a score of 5.95 meters, including Stephen Freihammer, DeGuzman, Max Suskin and Armand Burris. Boys Water Polo: The Patriots (28-1, 4-0) went 4-0 this weekend to win the Stevenson Varsity Classic Tournament. They beat Naperville Central 12-6, Palatine 13-2, New Trier 12-8, and York 9-7, getting revenge from their loss earlier in the week. Olin Kusevskis led the way in goals for Stevenson adding 12 goals, 9 steals and 1 assist. Max LaPointe-St. Georges followed suit with 10 goals, 6 steals, and 4 assists. Filip Wal contributed 6 goals, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Andrew Mossman added 4 goals, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Kunal Rajadhyax finished with 4 goals, 5 steals and 14 assists. Goalies Armaan Gill and Garrett Timmons combined for 9 blocked shots and 7 steals. Next up for Stevenson is Naperville North at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Stevenson Pool. Softball: Stevenson (6-4-1, 4-3) faced off against the defending Sectional Champions Whitney Young on Friday night at the Rolling Meadows Tournament and won, 8-7. Samantha Gotschewski started the game for the Patriots, pitching three innings, striking out 3 batters, while only walking one. Aubrey Jepson came in during the fourth inning to close out the game, pitching innings 4 through 7. Jepson collected 9 strikeouts, giving up only 2 hits. The defense played an amazing game with only 2 errors throughout the contest. Jepson led the way for the Patriots at the plate going 3-for-4 with 1 double and 2 singles. Michaela Duffy and Hailey Langer followed closely behind, each tallying 2 singles. Next up for Stevenson is an away match at Warren’s Almond Campus (weather permitting) tonight at 4:45 p.m. Boys Tennis: The Patriots (13-1, 5-0) traveled to Arlington Heights/Palatine for the Pitchford Invite, finishing fourth as a team with 38 points. Ashy Madhushankar defeated Evanston 6-3, 6-3 to get into the fifth place match that went unfinished due to weather. Caden Zhao finished as the consolation champion defeating Lyons Township, 6-1, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Alex Jang/Dustin Zhao made it to the championship match that also went unfinished due to weather conditions. Next up for Stevenson is a conference matchup against Libertyville tomorrow at the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex, starting at 4:45 p.m. Boys Lacrosse: Stevenson (3-11, 0-3) took on Vernon Hills in a nonconference matchup and won convincingly, 16-0. This win was a full-team effort with Aarav Patel and Cam Crew leading the way with 3 goals apiece. Caleb Lee added 2 goals and 3 assists, while Avi Gogineni also supplied Stevenson with 2 goals. Josh Lee, Andrew Kaplan and Ryan Loch all added 1 goal and 1 assist each, with Loch achieving a 71.4 winning percentage at the Faceoff X. Rounding out the scoring for the Patriots was Anthony Fieri and Jeremy Dalida each with one goal. Next up for the Patriots is Glenbrook South at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Stadium. Girls Soccer: Stevenson (9-4-1, 3-0-1) hosted Hononegah on Saturday in the Stadium and won 3-0. Amira Chavez scored the first goal for the Patriots, which was assisted by Molly Finnegan. Forward Madi Kennedy, put the ball in the back of the net off of an assist by Leah Stodola. The final goal of the day was from Ellie Egeland, also assisted by Stodola. Next up for the Patriots is a road game at Zion-Benton at 6:30 p.m. today. Baseball: The Patriots (18-6, 6-2) battled against Vernon Hills on Friday night and won 15-1 and then turned around to compete against Fremd on Saturday and won 16-1. Luca Morelli lit up the field against Vernon Hills, driving in 5 runs on 2 hits, hitting a grand slam and a single in the first inning. Nick Rayyan was on the mound, lasting 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 5 batters and walking zero. On Saturday against Fremd, Stevenson tallied 13 hits on the day with 10 added in the fourth inning by Colin Schmitke, Matthew Bressler, Chris Iannuzzi, JR Nelson, Joey Frankel and Brett Gaynor. Brady Rosenkranz got the win lasting four innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 6 batters.
