Rybin Brings Home A 3D-Architecture STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

In a week of state championship celebrations, Stevenson is adding another to the list, this time courtesy senior Dan Rybin, pictured left.

Rybin competed in the Illinois Design Educators Association’s State Competition over the weekend and came back as a champion!

Competitors in the 3D Architectural Modeling division are given a design brief and plan drawings that they then use to build and create using Autodesk Revit. Rybin took first place, scoring a 94 percent on the scoring rubric.

This is Rybin’s second state championship title, having previously won the competition in the Spring of 2021. He also took second place in the competition last year.

Rybin will be attending the University of Illinois in the Fall where he will be majoring in Architecture.

Multiple Medals Won At State By FCCLA!

At the Illinois Family, Community and Career Leaders Of America State competition in Springfield earlier this month, members of Stevenson’s FCCLA Club racked up plenty of gold and silver medals.

There were more than 700 students from across the state in attendance, and multiple students from Stevenson not only fared well against that competition in Career, Design, Development and Culinary events but they also became national delegates and will have the opportunity to attend the FCCLA National Competition in Denver this summer (July 2 through July 6)!

Abby Crelman (pictured above left with the green bowl) earned special distinction by being awarded a PERFECT 100 SCORE for her project!

FCCLA at Stevenson is sponsored by Jamie Rieman and Malinda Pum.

TAKEOVER TIME
Jalem To Give A Closer Look AT APIDA Week On Instagram

With an interest in graphic design, junior Sonika Jalem (pictured below)has an eye for what looks good. And she’ll be giving a bird’s-eye view of Asian Pacific Islander & Desi-American (APIDA) WeekTOMORROW during the lunch hour and after school at the APIDA Bake Sale in the Lower Sportscenter Lobby with a takeover of Stevenson’s main Instagram account.

“My specific job within the (APIDA) Student Council is Branding and Marketing, so that means I do the graphic design for our ads,” said Jalem, who is currently the Brand Director for the Asian American Student Association and slated to be its Co-President next year.

“I’ve worked on some of the graphics that you’ll see on social media, and I helped plan and coordinate two of the lunchtime activities (Monday with AASA and FASA, and Thursday with ISA and Taiwanese Club) with the other council representatives and the respective leaders of each club.”

The APIDA Student Council is new this year and Jalem and the other members are hoping this weeklong event is just the beginning of a strong presence on campus.

“This is the first time that anything like APIDA Week is happening school wide, so I’m excited to see how everything goes and to see what we can improve for next year,” Jalem said. “We have lots of interactive activities planned (with food!), which I personally have always loved participating in. Please follow the APIDA Council’s Instagram (@stevensonapida) for recaps on all our activities.”
