BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPS!
ACES Team Wins Second Straight STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Stevenson’s ACES (Academic Challenge) Team won the state championship on Wednesday at Eastern Illinois University. The team took first place at state last year as well!

Members of the State Championship Team are: Timothy Bui, Jaden Chen, Aaron Gan, Aditya Gupta, Ameya Rade, Vedant Rathi, Mikhail Seviaryn, James Tan, Rikin Thakkar, Prannay Veerabahu, Andrey Vlasov, Joshua Wang, Lillian Wang, Katherine Yin, Ethan Zhang and Joseph Zhu.

Percussion Ensemble Concert Covered All The Emotions!

From love to anger, sadness and madness and more, the Percussion Ensemble Concert earlier this week featured works of contemporary literature inspired by various emotions.

It was the final performance of the year for the Percussion Ensemble, showcasing all of its hard work and dedication to the percussive arts.

TONIGHT: Baroque To Feature Music Of The Legendary Bach!

It’s a tribute to an all-time great!

The Baroque Ensemble and Viol ConsortTONIGHT will feature the music of Johan Sebastian Bach performed on period instruments. The show is slated for a 7 p.m. start in the Recital Hall.

Pieces to be highlighted include: the double violin concerto in d minor BWV 1043, the harpsichord concerto in f minor BWV 1056 and the Brandenburg Concerto no.3 BWV 1048.

The show is free and is also available to be viewed on Vimeo.

eSports Grand Finals On MONDAY: Watch Via Twitch!

The Stevenson eSports CSGO team is in the Grand Finals and will play a Best-Of-Three at 7 p.m. on MONDAY for First and Second Place. The stream will be on Stevenson’s Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/aeshsesports

The players include: Dalton Wren, Owen Potempa, Nik Waz, Neil Rayu and Miles Kline. Good Luck, Patriots!

“Earth Week” Wraps With: “EARTH DAY”

Stevenson has been celebrating all things Mother Earth this week with “Earth Week 2023!”

Throughout this week, there have been daily lunchtime activities in the Wood Commons as well as various service and educational opportunities that align with the Earth Day 2023 organization’s sustainability campaigns.

Events have been hosted by the Green Team as well as Horticulture ClubChemistry Club, the Fashion Program, National Honor SocietyKey Club, local conservation organizations and more. Use the hashtags “#shsearthweek” or “#investinourplanet” or tag “@shs.greenteam” to show how you are taking action this Earth Week!

TODAY’S “EARTH WEEK” ACTIVITIES
Theme: “EARTH DAY”
Lunch (All lunch periods, Wood Commons): Take The Climate Pledge, Hosted by the Green Team ~ Take action and do your part in creating a more sustainable future. For each pledge, you will receive a metal reusable straw and your name will be entered into a raffle for a FREE JAZZMAN’S REUSABLE CUP. 3 winners total.
Look At Photos/Take Photos: Celebrate the culmination of “Earth Week” with Green Team by checking out the Green Team Instagram (@shs.greenteam) for a gallery of photos from the week! Someone special will also be walking around in the halls today…if you catch a glimpse of him, take a picture and tag Green Team!

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY “EARTH WEEK” ACTIVITIES

SATURDAY ~ Buckthorn Buster Day:9 a.m. to 12 noon, Indian Creek Preserve, Hawthorn Woods; Host: Hawthorn Woods Parks Department Students will be working with the Parks Department to clear out invasive species. The Parks Department will provide gloves and tools. Please bring your own water and warm weather gear. No transportation provided. Contact Mrs. Suntharanund to RSVP and if you have any questions (psuntharanund@d125.org).

SUNDAY ~ Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup: 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Buffalo Grove Metra Station; Host: Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team

“India Night” Will Showcase Indian Culture TONIGHT!

“India Night”…it’s the final event of the year for the Indian Student Association, and your chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Indian subcontinent through music, traditional games, lively performances, trivia and an array of mouth-watering food!

Stop by the Pool Patio from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. TONIGHT. The event is $5 per student. Register and pay HERE!

MONDAY ~ The Start Of Asian Pacific Islander & Desi-American Week

Stevenson’s APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander & Desi American) Student Council aims to better represent and appreciate Asian cultures through education, form safe spaces through the acknowledgment of multiculturalism within the Stevenson community, and create opportunities for everyone to celebrate diversity.

Monday’s APIDA Activity: APIDA Council is hosting a dalgona candy competition after school in Room 5120 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Teams of up to six students will be competing to see who can get the most intact candy shapes. There will be a prize at the end for the winners.


TUESDAY ~ Freshmen Wellness Day/Sophomore Testing
NO SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS

All Freshmen will report to school on TUESDAY for special “Wellness Day” programming running from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. Bus service to and from school will be provided. Freshmen Wellness Day will take place for Freshmen while Sophomores are at school taking the PSAT. Sophomore families received an e-mail last night that includes details on Tuesday’s Testing Day. NOTE: Juniors and Seniors will not have school on this day. For more information about “Wellness Day,” please check out this letter that was sent to all Freshmen Families.


TUESDAY ~ Stevenson TEDx 

TEDxStevensonHighSchool will follow the theme “Passions and Perspectives” in an event slated from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on TUESDAY in the West Auditorium. There are a handful of spots available. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here.

MAY 15 ~ Odyssey App/Rec Forms Due:  Applications and recommendations for Odyssey 2024. Students, faculty and staff may use the Odyssey Form to suggest artists and submit workshop ideas for Odyssey.

The Green Team will take shoes in ANY condition, whether they are for athletics, formalwear, etc. A donation box is at the Point.

TONIGHT ~ Boys Gymnastics Conference Championship: The Patriots will be competing in the INDEPENDENT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS TONIGHT atGlenbard East High School. Sports Results

Boys Water Polo: In a marquee matchup between the top two teams in the state of Illinois, the No. 1-ranked Patriots suffered their first loss of the year to No. 2 York, 16-11 at the Stevenson Pool. The match featured incredible defense and consistent scoring throughout. Stevenson’s Olin Krusevskis scored first on a quick goal up front. However, the Patriots couldn’t keep up with the fast pace of the Dukes. The Patriots are now 20-1 on the season. Next up for Stevenson is a Quad at the Stevenson Pool tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m.

JULY 17 ~ Baseball Golf Outing: The Stevenson Baseball Team is hosting a Golf Outing on Monday, July 17 at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course, starting at 9 a.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE to play in a foursome or to sponsor a hole. All proceeds will go to the Stevenson Baseball Program.
