Model Student: Rybin Heading To State For Architectural Modeling

Facing nearly 100 competitors from seven different schools, senior Dan Rybin won the 3D Architectural Modeling competition at the Illinois Design Educators Association Regional Competition earlier this month.

Rybin, who is pictured left and will now advance to the state finals on April 22, was one of 12 members of the Architecture And Engineering Club that participated in the competition and Stevenson had competitors not only in 3D Architectural Modeling, but also 3D CAD Modeling and 3D Assembly Modeling.

Other Stevenson competitors included: Joseph Wang, Vedansh Wadhwani, Rishikesh Battarusetty, Dylan Patel, Sammy Fayn, Abhay Agarwal, Julian Perez, Rithvikesh Battarusetty, Alex Inman, Mark Gingiss and Jiseob Shin.

More Champions For Stevenson In HOSA State Competition

The final events for the recent Illinois HOSA-Future Health Professionals state competition were finally completed and results have been posted…and members of Stevenson’s HOSA Club received additional recognition.

The previously shared compilation of HOSA results has now been fully updated.

Seniors: Here’s Another Scholarship Opportunity!

The Hoffman Estates (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is awarding scholarships to qualified African-American high school seniors in the Northwest Suburban areas of Chicago.

Scholarships are available for students who will attend a two-year community college or a four-year college or university as a full-time student in the Fall of 2023. Students may apply in one or more qualifying categories: Historically Black College or University (HBCU), Big Ten University, The Arts, Community College or Academic Achievement.

All scholarship applications are due Friday, March 31.

Fast-A-Thon Event Slated For First Week Back At School; RSVP Now


Join Stevenson’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) on Thursday, April 6 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Room 2104 for Fast-A-Thon!

During this event, there will be a guest speaker to inform attendees about Ramadan, food for when the fast is broken, and games.

If you’re interested in fasting with Muslim peers during the day and/or would like to attend the event, please fill out this form to RSVP as soon as possible.

MAY 15 ~ Odyssey App/Rec Forms Due: The Fine Arts Division is accepting applications and recommendations for Odyssey 2024 artists and workshop ideas. Students, faculty and staff may use the Odyssey Form to suggest artists and submit workshop ideas for Odyssey, which will run Feb. 13-14, 2024.

CLUBS

NOW THROUGH APRIL ~ Project Cutlery: Green Team is concerned about plastic utensil use at Stevenson. The club has organized a raffle running now through April for students who submit a photo of the reusable utensil they use at Stevenson through this form. Those submissions are entered for a chance to WIN a solar-powered portable charger! There will be THREE randomly selected winners who will be notified in April. Submitted photos MUST show use AT STEVENSON in order to be considered.

NOW THROUGH END OF SCHOOL YEAR ~ Shoe Donations: The Green Team and SWALCO (Solid Waste Agency of Lake County) have partnered to keep unwanted footwear out of landfills. The Green Team will take shoes in ANY condition, whether they are for athletics, formalwear, etc. Collection continues NOW through the END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR in the donation box at the Point, across from the Security Desk. NOW ~ Tickets Available NOW For TEDx: Mark your calendars, and buy your tickets…the power of TED is coming to Stevenson next month in the form of a student-led and student-run grassroots event called TEDxStevensonHighSchool. 
TEDxStevensonHighSchool will follow the theme “Passions and Perspectives” in the
upcoming event, slated for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on APRIL 25 in the West Auditorium. There are only 100 spots available. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here.

SUNDAY ~ Deadline For Spirit T-Shirt Contest Submissions: The Patriot School Store needs help designing a new Stevenson Spirit Wear T-shirt! One entry per student, black or white t-shirt only, front design only. Designs are subject to modifications by the vendor. Please submit your design in PDF format to mshahinian@d125.org by SUNDAY.

Camp Patriot is open to kids who are entering kindergarten through eighth grade in the fall. Daily activities are led by Role Models and professional staff. MARCH 31 ~ Party Time, Seniors…Early-Bird Ticket Deadline: Tickets for “The Senior Class Party,” which is a two-hour boat cruise on Lake Michigan May 25, are available.The early-bird price for tickets ($40 apiece) is good until MARCH 31, and after that tickets will increase to $45 apiece. To complete the transaction, put your Student ID in the Promo Code. Sports Results

Badminton: The Patriots (2-0) hosted conference opponent Waukegan and breezed to the win, dominating all of their matches and finishing 18-0. The No. 2 doubles team, Lindsey Wang and Veronica Ornatsky, won their match 21-2, 21-3. Singles player Reshma Rajesh defeated her opponent 21-1, 21-1. Next up for Stevenson is the Glenbard East Invite at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Baseball: Stevenson (1-1) changed up its schedule at the last minute and hosted Huntley on the Varsity Field, losing 6-2. Pitcher Chris Iannuzzi took the loss for the Patriots, surrendering 4 runs on 4 hits over three innings, striking out two batters. Stevenson tallied 6 hits with Michael Belbot and Iannuzzi tallying 2 hits apiece. Next up is a home game at 4:45 p.m. today against Notre Dame.

Boys Lacrosse: The Patriots (0-2) hosted Barrington on Wednesday night and lost 15-9 under the Stadium lights. Stevenson was down 8-7 at halftime, but the Broncos pulled away in the second half on their way to victory. The Patriots’ offense was led by Aarav Patel with 4 goals. Caleb Lee had 2 goals (1 assist) and Cameron Crew had 2 goals (1 assist). Zaine Clemons tallied the first goal of his high school career, in addition to his first assist. Josh Lee added 1 assist on the day. The Patriots’ defense was led by Jack Myers and Ian McKelvey. Shashwat Singh and John Garcia each made their varsity debut in goal. Next up for Stevenson is a road game at Palatine at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
