We are thrilled to announce Stevenson’s second annual Anti-Racism and Inclusivity Week, running from Feb. 27 to Mar. 2! This year’s theme is “Living Our Values as an SHS Community,” which is integral to our school community’s collective commitment to equity, access and inclusivity.

Click here for a detailed view of our upcoming events! FIRE, in collaboration with many other equity-minded clubs, will be hosting a series of events during the week focused on spreading the message of the importance of diversity as a shared value within our school community. Activities include guest speakers, a book discussion, slam poetry showcase and more! We hope to see you there!
PS. Don’t forget that the capstone of Black History Month is happening TODAY!

Operation Black History Month, our annual celebration about Black culture, will kick off after school at 3:30 p.m. in Room 2104, with fun activities and food from a local restaurant. Then, the festivities will roll right into student performances, starting at 5:15 p.m. in the West Auditorium. This event is open to ALL Stevenson students. We hope to see everyone there!
Our very own Deven Sainte-Rose, a junior at Stevenson and Director of Communications for Black Student Union, will be taking over Stevenson’s Instagram handle for Operation Black History Month! Deven, who has been part of BSU since his freshman year, is thrilled for the opportunity to bring other students together to learn about Black history.

Make sure to follow along @stevensonhs for a peak into all the fun activities!

Are You Ready to Make Career Moves? Start Here!

The College Career Center would like to invite you to our first-ever Career Ready/Trade Expo on Thursday, March 2, from 5-7 p.m. in the Wood Commons.

This event will highlight careers that have limited (if any) educational requirements after high school. All students are welcome, but this event is especially well-suited for seniors seeking local career opportunities, apprenticeships and advancement options. Most opportunities will require either on-the-job training, certificate programs (12-15 months) or associate degrees (no bachelor’s degree required).
Sample careers that will be represented on this night include real estate agent, traditional trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.), cosmetology, manufacturing, pharmacy technician, dental assistant, auto body repair, police, fire and EMT. There will also be representatives from College of Lake County to discuss how their programming can help prepare students for some of these types of careers.

Feel free to contact the CCC (shs_collegecareer@d125.org) with any questions. Note, that this is a family event, so students should feel free to bring along a parent or guardian!

The Season of Musicality Continues at Stevenson!

Join us for what is sure to be a beautiful performance by the Stevenson Baroque ensemble and Viol consort on period instruments. Our talented students will take the stage to perform a repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque Periods, featuring music by Corelli, Handel, Bach and more! It truly is a unique musical experience.

The performance takes place tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Can’t make it? You can also watch a livestream of the performance here

Grab a Soup/Salad Combo.. and Support Our Athletes at the Same Time!

If you’re planning takeout for dinner tomorrow, consider making a trip to Panera in Vernon Hills. For one day only, 20% of all sales at Panera Bread Vernon Hills will be donated to Stevenson Girls Water Polo to support team activities.
The fundraiser is open tomorrow from 4-8 p.m. You can use code FUND4U at online checkout, in the Panera App or at the kiosk in-cafe to ensure those dollars are routed to the team’s fundraiser. Thank you in advance for your support!
