Landau And Beckstrom Take The Cake At Baking Competiton
Think of your favorite baking competition on the Food Network.
That’s what reality was for seniors Anja Beckstrom (right in top left photo) and Jenna Landau (left in top left photo) earlier this month as they took place in the Family Careers and Community Leaders of America Section 2 STAR Baking & Pastry Arts Competition at the College of DuPage.
In this event, students had to demonstrate their baking and pastry arts skills through the preparation of a quick bread, choux pastry, and cake decorating ~ all within 2 hours and 45 minutes! The blueberry muffins, cranberry orange cookies, cream puffs and cake decorating were no match for them as Landau landed first place and Beckstrom took second place in the event. They will move to the state competition later in March.
FCCLA members compete in Child Development, Fashion, Interior Design, Culinary and Entrepreneurial events at the sectional, state and national levels. Students develop projects to showcase their knowledge and skills within Family & Consumer Sciences-related courses to compete against high schools nationwide.

The Animal Welfare Club will be presenting Vitale with a small “In Memory of Irie” remembrance. Stop by and give your regards to Mr. Vitale and meet his new pup!
