“Romeo And Juliet” Shared The Love With Three Big Shows!


The Freshmen/Sophomore Play, “Romeo And Juliet!”, conducted three big shows over the weekend, treating audiences to the classic tale of the ever-famous “star-crossed lovers” through an abridged, one-act version of Shakespeare’s original “Romeo And Juliet.”

“Community College Week” Starts TODAY!

Six community colleges will visit Stevenson this week during “Community College Week!”

These college visits are similar to the college rep visits that took place during the fall. Interested Juniors and Seniors should register within Naviance and seek teacher permission two school days in advance to attend the scheduled visit.

All visits will take place in the College And Career Center.

TODAY, Fifth Period ~ Oakton College (2 campuses in Des Plaines and Niles)

TOMORROW, Sixth Period ~ Arrupe College of Loyola University (2-year degree program at Loyola)

TOMORROW, Seventh Period ~ Parkland College (can earn dual credits with nearby UIUC)

WEDNESDAY, Seventh Period ~ Kirkwood Community College (on the campus of University of Iowa)

THURSDAY, Fourth, Fifth or Sixth Periods ~  College Of Lake County (in-district community college with guaranteed admission with dozens of four-year colleges). Seniors who are interested in taking part in the upcoming CLC application workshops and/or placement testing should fill out this survey prior to the events.

FRIDAY, Sixth Period ~ Harper College (students can receive in-district tuition rates by working within campus boundaries)

SAGA Dance Is Back: Masquerade Ball Is FRIDAY!


It’s been three long years since the last SAGA Dance, so this year’s Masquerade Ball is going to be bigger and better than ever!

The Sexuality And Gender Alliance invites you to join your friends and show your support for Stevenson’s LGBTQ+ community by dancing the night away FRIDAY from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Lower East Glass Commons.

Music will be provided by the Stevenson DJ Club. There will also be free food and fun activities. This is a great opportunity to meet some new people and have fun!!

TODAY: Deadline To Opt Out Of Education Survey: Parents, guardians, faculty and students have the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Illinois 5Essentials Survey. The confidential online survey is administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago, on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education and addresses five indicators that lead to improved outcomes for students. Students will receive specific e-mail communication about how they can participate in the survey during their Mathematics class. If you would like your student to opt-out of this survey, please complete this form by TODAY. Parents are also welcome to complete the 5Essentials Survey.

FRIDAY, Feb. 17 ~ Registration Deadline For Biliteracy Exam: The February 2023 Biliteracy Exam is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25. The exam is available only to Juniors and Seniors, and seating is limited. The registration deadline for the exam is Friday, Feb. 17, at 12 noon. Visit Stevenson’s Biliteracy page and Biliteracy Exam FAQ for languages offered, registration, and payment information.

MARCH 8 ~ Deadline To Register For Second-Semester AP Tests: Students taking Second Semester (Only) Advanced Placement classes can now register for their AP Tests that will take place in May. Registration must be completed and a full payment must be made by March 8. Please refer to the AP page on the Stevenson website for more information.

MARCH 14 ~ Submit Worksheet To Schedule A P-SCoPE Meeting For Juniors: Counselors are available to meet with JUNIORS for a Post Secondary SCoPE (P-SCoPE) meeting from NOW through mid-June. The P-SCoPE meeting is a 45-minute individual family appointment with a post-secondary counselor to discuss options after high school, and answer questions your family might have. Families may make one such appointment per student. To ensure the availability of appointments for the Class of 2024, please submit a completed worksheet by March 14 to shs_collegecareer@d125.org or drop it off at the CCC (Room 1123). Interpreters can be available for the meeting with proper advanced notice.

MARCH 23 ~ Deadline to Register For Summer School: Online registration for summer school courses is open until March 23Click here for instructions on how to register. Classes will be determined and staff will be hired based on the number of requests. After March 23, all registration is accepted on a space-available basis. Every effort will be made to accommodate all registrations. Families will be contacted as soon as possible if a registration request can not be accommodated due to a class being full or there are staffing issues. The tuition fees are listed in the course descriptions. All fees must be paid at the time of registration. Incomplete registration will not be accepted. Deadline For NY Fashion Industry Travel Experience Is WEDNESDAY!


Are you interested in learning more about the occupational opportunities in the fashion industry? Want a behind-the-scenes view of designers, trend reporters and other fashion-related businesses? Want to explore fashion hot spots in New York City?

It’s not too late to sign up for the New York Fashion Industry Tour this summer from May 30 to June 2.

THURSDAY ~ CLC Visit…And Workshops: The College And Career Center is hosting a series of College Of Lake County workshops throughout the Second Semester, starting with a visit on THURSDAY from CLC during all lunch periods in the CCC. (Seniors ~ and juniors ~ are welcome to join a session.) This is the first of SIX total events in this CLC workshop series. FRIDAY, Feb. 24: Early-Bird Ticket Deadline For Winterfest 2023: Arcade! Get your tickets for the upcoming Winterfest Dance, which will be held on SATURDAY, Feb. 25 (7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the West Commons and Sportscenter). The price is$25 through Feb. 24. Tickets will be available at the door for $40. NOTE: If you would like to bring a guest (a student from another school) to the Dance, you must fill out a guest form. Guest forms may be submitted NOW through Feb. 17. 

Get Your Nominations In By FRIDAY For Winter Sports Awards!

The Winter Sports Awards Night is coming up next month and part of the event includes the announcement of the annual Exceptional Stevenson Patriot Pride Awards.

Students, parents, faculty and staff are encouraged to vote for Winter athletes and teams in the following categories: Team Community Service, Comeback Award, Breakthrough Under-Level Athlete, Breakthrough Varsity Athlete, Best Under-Level Game Performance, Best Varsity Game Performance, Superfans, Best Manager and Best Moment in Winter Sports.

Nominate a WINTER athlete for an Exceptional Stevenson Patriot Pride Awards (ESPPA) by FRIDAY.

The Winter Sports Awards Night is at 7 p.m. on TUESDAY, March 7 in the Sportscenter.

Sports Notes


Football Award: Stevenson won the the National Football Foundation National High School Academic Excellence Award for Class 8A teams in the state of Illinois for the 2022-23 school year. The National Football Foundation (NFF) names state winners of the NFF Excellence Awards, which go to top teams from each level of play within each state. Sixty teams now vie as finalists for the NFF Hatchell Cup, presented by “The Original” Bob’s Steak and Chop House. 


Girls Hockey Honors: Lana Barber and Vanessa Magsino from the Girls Hockey Program were just named to the AHAI All-State Girls Hockey Team. The all-state game will be next MONDAY, Feb. 13 at Edge Ice Arena. Time to be announced. 



Boys Lacrosse Meeting: There will be an Informational Meeting for Boys Lacrosse on FRIDAY, Feb. 24 in Room 1204 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.



Hall Of Fame Nominations: Nominations for the Stevenson Athletics Hall of Fame are now being accepted. Nominate an athlete, coach, staff member or supporter who through their commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to the Stevenson Athletic Program has brought pride and distinction to our school community. Deadline to submit is March 15.

Sports Results

Competitive Cheer: At the IHSA State Finals in Bloomington, the Patriots finished seventh in the large-team competition with a score of 91.63. They qualified for the finals on Saturday by scoring a 92.43 in the prelims on Friday night.


Boys And Girls Fencing: The Patriots competed in the Great Lakes High School Fencing Conference Team Championships in Highland Park. In the men’s and women’s overall competitions, the Patriots placed first in both to bring home team trophies. In the men’s Epee, the Patriots placed second and in the men’s Saber, they took first place. In the women’s Epee, Stevenson took first place and in the women’s Saber, the Patriots finished in second place.

 
Wrestling: The Patriots finished second in their Regional with a 192, right behind regional champion Hersey. Nine Stevenson wrestlers qualified for the Sectional, which starts at 5 p.m. on Friday at Barrington. Lorenzo Frezza finished first at 138, winning on a fall at 5:53. Blake Duvall took the top spot at 220, winning on a fall at 1:52. Andrew Chamkin earned second place at 126. Shawn Kogan finished in second place at 120. Thomas Schoolman finished second at 160. Yash Jagtap placed third at 113, winning on a fall at 1:15. Eric Wade finished third at 145, winning with a major decision, 16-8. Themba Sitshela finished third at 170, winning on a fall at 3:39. And Andrew Timmons finished third at 285. 



Girls Bowling:
 The Patriots participated in the IHSA Regional on Saturday and while they didn’t qualify as a team, Anna Reyes (pictured left) placed seventh as an individual and qualified for the Sectional with a 1114 series. Reyes had a high game of 225 to help her seal the deal. She will bowl in the New Trier Sectional on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.


Boys Basketball: Stevenson (19-5, 10-1) hosted Zion-Benton on Senior Night and won, 72-37. Senior David Sulnius scored 16 points and had 5 rebounds. Senior Brandon Sorokin scored 15 points, while Jack Dabbs scored 12 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Aidan Bardic contributed 10 points with 7 assists. The Patriots also hosted Rockford-Guilford on Saturday and lost in overtime, 74-68. Dabbs scored a team-high 18 points with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Bardic added 15 points with 9 assists. Sorokin chipped in with 13 points and Michael Maloney added 11 points. Stevenson will travel to Waukegan on Tuesday. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.


Girls Basketball: The Patriots fell to Prospect (19-10, 9-4) 73-58 on Saturday. Emory Klatt scored a team-high 29 points. Kate Arne put up 15 points and Nisha Musunuri and Emma Brooks both scored 4 points apiece. Stevenson is back in action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Zion-Benton.🏒 Girls Hockey: The Patriots traveled to the Darien Sportsplex Campbell Rink to take on the Burlington West Grizzlies and lost, 4-1. Stevenson’s Vanessa Magsino scored the Scouts’ only goal on a power play at 10:59. Next up for the girls hockey team is Lake Forest Academy at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Lake Forest Academy’s Mckenzie Arena.
