Mic Check, Please! S-Factor Is TONIGHT!
There will be 11 singers competing in KIVA’s S-Factor, Stevenson’s annual premier singing competition that allows contestants to not only compete against other talented singers on campus, but to also showcase their musical talent.
S-Factor, emceed by seniors Haylie Popkey, Abby Collins, Hailey Langer and Sarah Sagerman, will take place TONIGHT from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
The singers are:
Seniors: Amita Nair, Kayal Lavari, Becca Fishmar, Anika Krishnaswamy, Elise Victoria Regalado
Junior: Rachel Anand
Sophomores: Nikki Rodriguez, London Cabrera, Hazel Kim, Sahana Bawa
Freshman: Syra Hashmi
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online via the Stevenson Superstore. Please make sure to show your confirmation e-mail at the door as proof of receipt.
NOTE: In conjunction with the S-Factor event, Culver’s will be hosting an
S-Factor Benefit all day TODAY. When ordering, please mention Stevenson KIVA to ensure that 35 percent of sales goes towards KIVA.
KIVA will donate proceeds from S-Factor ticket sales, as well as the Culver’s Benefit, to micro-loans for people in financial need in areas of the world that do not have access to financial institutions.
Senior Ben Snider Will Be Your Backstage Pass To S-Factor!

Snider will take over Stevenson’s main Instagram account this afternoon and have control all night to give you a behind-the-scenes look at S-Factor, KIVA’s singing competition.
Snider is the Director of Retention and Recruitment at KIVA. He has been a member of the club for four years, the last two years in his current role. He was introduced to KIVA by his older brothers, who were also members.
Snider says that he is excited to do the S-Factor Instagram takeover since this is the first time this event has had a takeover.
“I love connecting with the contestants and keeping them loose and having fun. I did that in my role last year,” Snider said. “And I love that KIVA helps people (from emerging economies).”

Mark your calendars to “bust a move” (80s style!!!) at Winterfest 2023: Arcade!
If you would like to bring a guest (a student from another school) to the Dance on SATURDAY, Feb. 25 (7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the West Commons and Sportscenter), you must fill out a guest form. Guest forms may be submitted NOW through Feb. 17.
After your guest form is completed and fully signed, you can purchase tickets to Winterfest for you and your guest. The form could take time to process, so please allow two business days to complete it.
Ticket sales for the Winterfest Dance begin MONDAY. The price is$25 through Feb. 24. Tickets will be available at the door for $40.

TOMORROW: Archery Team Hosting Fundraiser For St. Jude
The Stevenson Archery Team will host its annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children Research HospitalTOMORROW from Noon to 3 p.m. in the Fieldhouse.
To support this worthy cause, please consider sponsoring a Stevenson archer for an amount per bullseye. To sponsor an archer, please contact Jane Caballero (jcaballero@d125.org).

The Archery Team is coming off a strong showing last weekend at the Jefferson Jaguar Shootout in Champaign.
Sophomore Zion Li (pictured left) finished 23rd overall (out of 189 total male archers) with a score of 274 and 12 bullseyes. Senior Evan Lin finished 29th with a score of 273 and 9 bullseyes. Sophomore Joseph Jung finished 35th with a score of 272 and 7 bullseyes. Junior Arshdeep Saini finished 37th with a score of 271 and 11 bullseyes. Senior Zoe Thorndyke finished 27th overall (out of 176 female archers) with a score of 270 and 10 bullseye.
Support Best Buddies At Culver’s Fundraiser On SUNDAY
Stevenson’s Best Buddies program is part of a non-for-profit international program that enhances the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by promoting one-to-one friendships.
Students with disabilities (Buddies) are paired up with students without disabilities (Peer Buddies and Associate Buddies) and friendships develop through SHS-sponsored events and outside of school hang outs.
Best Buddies is hosting a fundraiser at both the Lincolnshire Culver’s and the Buffalo Grove Culver’s all day on SUNDAY. Mention Best Buddies at checkout at the drive-thru, dine in or carry out.
The Newest “Half-Wit” Is Here! Check It Out!
The “Half-Wit” is Stevenson’s literary magazine that is designed specifically for freshmen and sophomores. The magazine showcases incredible student fiction, poetry, prose, drama, raps, musical scores and art.

This week marks the debut of a new section in the “Daily Digest,” Reminders For Students. This section will tighten our Student Announcements section by including information about events/action items that have already been fully promoted in the Digest, but that have yet to happen or are still open-ended with deadlines (submissions/applications/permission slips). These reminders, which will run every day, will include direct links to applicable websites or documents, and/or to previous editions of the “Digest” that feature the full listing about the event. ONGOING ~ Register For Second-Semester AP Tests: Students taking Second Semester (Only) Advanced Placement classes can now register for their AP Tests that will take place in May. TUESDAY, Jan. 31 ~ Information Meeting For “Kilometers For Kenya:” The National Honor Society will be hosting “Kilometers For Kenya,” its Spring Fundraising Event, in March and is looking for participants. **For those who would like to participate, there will be two informational meetings next TUESDAY (Jan. 31): at 3:40 p.m. in the Patriot Wellness Center Multipurpose Room (5024), and at 7 p.m. on Zoom. All students are welcome and must attend one of the informational meetings. “Kilometers For Kenya,” from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 11 in the Fieldhouse, is a team walking and running competition, and each lap completed will be a donation towards the Angaza Center. TODAY ~ Boys Basketball White Out: Patriots…Don’t forget to dress in WHITE for TODAY’s boys basketball game against visiting Mundelein. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in the Sportscenter! One ticket is good for both the Sophomore Game at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity Game. Tickets are available via GoFan: $5 for Adults and $3 for Seniors and Students. Students must present their Student ID.
TODAY ~ Pep Bus For Dance At State: The Competitive Dance Team is headed to the IHSA State Finals at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington this weekend, and Stevenson is providing a Pep Bus TODAY for students interested in attending and supporting the team. Please sign up for the Pep Bus HERE. The cost of the Pep Bus is $15 and the cost of a ticket for the event is an additional $12. Tickets can be purchased with cash onsite for $12.
SUNDAY ~ Boys Hockey Rivalry Game: The Patriots will take on St. Viator in the Chicago Blackhawks Rivalry Game at 12:40 p.m. on SUNDAY at Twin Rinks. Watch the game via YouTube.
MONDAY ~ Girls Gymnastics Regional: The Patriots are headed to the IHSA Regional on MONDAY at Carmel High School. Tickets are $5 for general admission. There will be no cash sales. Live scoring can be viewed via MeetScorer. Action starts at 6 p.m.

Sports Results
Girls Gymnastics: The Patriots placed fifth overall at the NSC Championships, hosted by Lake Forest. Stevenson finished with a score of 137.65. Clara Cavalcanti tied for third on the vault with a 9.40. The Patriots dominated the uneven bars as Emma Fang tied for third with a 9.15, Ashley Schabes placed seventh with an 8.80, Samantha Matzek was right behind in eighth with an 8.65 and Cavalcanti took tenth with an 8.5. Schabes placed second on the floor exercise with a 9.35 and finished out the meet in seventh in the all-around with a 35.150. Next up for Stevenson is the IHSA Regional on Monday at Carmel. The action starts at 6 p.m.
Girls Basketball: The Patriots (19-8, 9-3) blew past host Mundelein, 53-22. Emory Klatt (pictured right) scored 13 points and Kate Arne added 8 points. Nisha Musunuri added 11 points while Sydney Rosland contributed 9 points and Emma Brooks put up 6 points. Stevenson is back in action on Tuesday at the Sportscenter for its annual “Think Pink” game against Lake Forest. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
