Gifts Galore Descend On PAC For Give-A-Thon Collection Day; Delivery Day Is Tomorrow!

Give-A-Thon, Stevenson’s long-running holiday fundraiser run by the National Honor Society, is nearing its fun and festive conclusion.

Today is Collection Day, where students can bring their gifts to the Performing Arts Center. Then tomorrow for Delivery Day, all the gifts and donated items will be loaded onto trucks that will take them to locations around Lake County.

NHS students from Stevenson will personally help distribute the items at: Catholic Charities Warehouse in Libertyville, St. Mary of Vernon in Indian Creek and Vernon Township Pantry in Buffalo Grove.

Takeover Tuesday: Kim Running Stevenson’s Instagram Today!

To capture all of the behind-the-scenes action of Give-A-Thon’sCollection Day today, senior Gyeongwu Kim (pictured right) has taken over the main Stevenson Instagram account.

Kim is on the Executive Board of the National Honor Society, which is running Give-A-Thon. A two-year member of NHS, Kim is also on the Collection Day Committee.

“Watching (everyone) sell candy and other things and buying from them and then watching how the amount of gifts grow on Collection Day,” Kim said of his favorite part of Give-A-Thon.

Today Is #GivingTuesday! You Can Ensure All Students Succeed At Stevenson…And Beyond

Stevenson inspires students to reach for the stars, and many go on to exciting colleges and careers, and lifelong successes.

But despite perceptions and outward appearances, hundreds of students at Stevenson carry a burden you may not see ~ significant financial hardships that lead to a lack of the most basic essentials needed to fully engage in the school day. Even worse, for financially under-resourced or first-generation students, college can feel out of reach.

What if there was a way to ensure that all students can succeed at Stevenson and beyond?

Vital Stevenson Foundation programs such as One Family and Stevenson To College (S2C) provide the immediate assistance and long-term resources students need to achieve their full potential and brightest futures.

On #GivingTuesday, please consider giving a tax-deductible gift to the Stevenson Foundation to help provide essentials and opportunities to students in need on campus.

More opportunities to get involved with Stevenson’s awarding-winning theater program are coming your way.

Auditions and leadership interviews for the Frosh/Soph Play “Romeo And Juliet” and the Winter Play “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” start TOMORROW (3:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and run through Thursday (3:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) at the Little Theatre, with rehearsals beginning next week.

“Romeo And Juliet” is a one-hour production that will run in February. Measures will be taken to make sure that students feel comfortable, confident and safe with Shakespearen text and some of the heavier themes of the story. Only freshmen and sophomores will be cast in the play.

The Winter Play, “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time,” will run in March and feature costume, scenic, lighting and sound design by the Advanced Stagecraft Class. The award-winning play concerns a mystery surrounding the death of a neighbor’s dog that is investigated by a young boy named Christopher, who has Autism.
