Wellness Wednesday Gives You More…Wellness!
“Wellness Wednesday” started this school year as a forum for content from the new Patriot Wellness Center.
That won’t change. You’ll still get great news and information about fitness and wellness and programming from the Patriot Wellness Center in this space.
But, we are also adding more content here. “Wellness Wednesday” will now include helpful mental and psychological content and will be a collaboration between the Patriot Wellness Center and Student Services, home to Stevenson’s counselors, social workers, psychologists and all of the great people who work behind the scenes, such as the Substance Use Prevention Team.
Sometimes, “Wellness Wednesday” will be all PWC, sometimes all Student Services. And sometimes, the two departments will work together to create relevant and complementary content.
Today, we are introducing the social workers and psychologists (pictured above) who will be contributing in this space. Here is their first “Wellness Wednesday” message:
Every student at Stevenson is assigned to either a social worker or psychologist. They are here to help support you with issues related to personal, family and/or social/emotional struggles. Discussions are confidential unless there are safety concerns.
To set up a time to meet with your social worker/psychologist, please refer to the Student Services webpage. You can also drop by any Student Services office or e-mail a member of your SST to make an appointment.
The social work/psychologist team is happy to be able to support you throughout your high school journey, Patriots!

SUPER DUPER!! Boys Soccer Wins Supersectional; Headed To STATE!!
For just the second time in school history, the boys soccer team has qualified for the IHSA State Finals.
The Patriots punched their ticket last night in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 double overtime victory over New Trier in the Hersey Supersectional. Led by head coach PepeJon Chavez, Stevenson will take on Naperville Central at 7 p.m. on Friday in the State Semifinals at Hoffman Estates High School.
The last time Stevenson was in the IHSA State Finals was in 2012. The Patriots placed fourth under former head coach Mark Schartner.
Stevenson (21-0-3) played stellar defense from start to finish in the Supersectional and made it very difficult for New Trier to find any space or rhythm on the field.
Aidan Morris and the back line of Steven Nyc, Alex Huelsman and Burak Gulsen helped keep the game scoreless at the half. Stevenson came out of the halftime break with energy and pushed for a goal, but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
The midfield unit of Bryant Rouse, Bhargav Devabhaktuni and Rohan Gopalam were relentlessfor the entire game and made it difficult for New Trier to create any scoring chances.
In a scoreless overtime, Stevenson delivered the game-winner when Gopalam’s looping free kick found the back of the net, bouncing in front of the goalie and into the goal.
