more than fitness: unique features take patriot wellness center to a different level

Sure, the new Patriot Wellness Center, due to open in time for the start of the 2022-23 school year, has the fitness angle covered. There are plenty of treadmills and bikes, weights and other equipment available for all of your workout needs.

But the amenities don’t stop there. The Patriot Wellness Center is more than just a health club, and was designed with every detail of wellness in mind, with cool and unique spots, shown in our fourth Sneak Peek video, that take this facility to the next level.

When you’re hungry or need some energy, the Smoothie Bar and Snack Shop will refuel you with healthy options that will hit the spot. The menu will include salads and wraps, veggie cups, cheese and protein boxes, smoothies…and many more fun, healthy options.

Head to the expansive stair deck to drink your smoothie, eat your snack, visit with friends, read a book or just lounge. There’s plenty of room to spread out and relax. Behind the stairs is a massive living wall full of beautiful plants that will not only help the building be green, but will emit a fresh, clean scent that will make the entire area feel spa-like.

For your “infotainment” pleasure, extra large flat screen televisions line almost every wall, including the lobby area. Those televisions are touch screens and will offer interactive information.

The training room is state-of-the-art and will feature every therapy gizmo you could possibly need. The locker rooms are spacious and feature private showers and changing areas.

Upstairs, the dance studio is full of windows with wonderful views…and the outdoor yoga balcony will help you get your Zen on. Meanwhile, Stevenson is now one of the few high schools in the area with indoor fieldturf of at least 40 yards.

So…whether you want to work out, meet up with friends, grab a snack or just relax, the Patriot Wellness Center has a space for everyone.

freshmen: get ready for a jam-packed, fun-filled orientation day!!

Orientation Day for Freshmen is Wednesday, Aug. 10. Stevenson is excited to welcome the Class of 2026 and has planned an exciting, fun-filled day!

Freshmen, who will be on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3:25 p.m., will spend the day with their Freshman Mentors, who will help them navigate campus with tours while also explaining school policies, programs and traditions. They will also introduce freshmen to school personnel.

In addition to getting schedules, books, supplies and school IDs on Orientation Day, freshmen will also meet classmates, counselors and deans, find their advisory rooms, eat lunch, run through a “mini-schedule” of their classes and attend a “Welcome Assembly” in the Sportscenter.

On Friday, freshmen families will receive an e-mail from Stevenson with specific details about the bus pick-up time and stop location closest to their homes. This is the bus stop location and pick-up time that students should use on Freshman Orientation Day as well as during the first semester. Bus route information will also be posted on the Stevenson website by Friday. Stevenson highly recommends that freshmen take the bus to Orientation Day for Freshmen.

On Monday, Aug. 8, freshmen families will receive an e-mail from Stevenson with instructions on where students should go when they arrive on campus for Orientation Day.

be our guest…sign up to audition for the fall musical: “beauty and the beast”

Everyone loves a good love story…and Stevenson will bring one of the best in the Disney collection to life with the Patriot Theatre Company’s Fall Musical, “Beauty And The Beast.” This is the story of “Belle,” a young woman in a provincial town, and the “Beast,” who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.

Believe it or not, it’s already time to start thinking about auditions for this classic!

Audition and crew sign-ups open on Monday, Aug. 8 and there is an audition workshop at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 in the Performing Arts Center.

Acting and vocal auditions will be held in the Performing Arts Center on Monday, Aug. 22 and Tuesday, Aug. 23. Dance auditions will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24. In order to be considered for the cast, you must complete BOTH the acting/vocal audition AND the dance audition.

Also, future Stevenson students in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade will have the opportunity to audition for “Chip” on Monday, Aug. 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

More details about sign-ups and auditions will be posted in this document.
