intro to business takes on topgolf!
It’s been said that a lot of business takes place on golf courses.
The summer Intro to Business classes experienced a slice of that with a fun-filled educational trip last week to Topgolf in Schaumburg.
The trip included students engaging with top-level managers at the facility to learn more about Topgolf’s business strategies. During the discussions, students learned about business concepts such as entrepreneurship, management, marketing and finance. The trip ended with students participating in the Topgolf experience.
Back at school, students were then able to apply the knowledge gained on the trip to their final project for the class.

“be our guest..” sign up to audition for the fall musical: “beauty and the beast”
Everyone loves a good love story…and Stevenson will bring one of the best in the Disney collection to life with the Patriot Theatre Company’s Fall Musical, “Beauty And The Beast.” This is the story of “Belle,” a young woman in a provincial town, and the “Beast,” who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.
Believe it or not, it’s already time to start thinking about auditions for this classic!
Audition and crew sign-ups open on Monday, Aug. 8 and there is an audition workshop at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 in the Performing Arts Center.
Acting and vocal auditions will be held in the Performing Arts Center on Monday, Aug. 22 and Tuesday, Aug. 23. Dance auditions will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24. In order to be considered for the cast, you must complete BOTH the acting/vocal audition AND the dance audition.
Also, future Stevenson students in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade will have the opportunity to audition for “Chip” on Monday, Aug. 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
More details about sign-ups and auditions will be posted in this document.

parked cars and ipads don’t mix in the summer heat
Summer has arrived with extremely hot temperatures, and those temperatures can be of concern for iPads.
Apple Support states that high temperatures (and also very low temperatures during the winter) might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using or storing an iOS device in very warm (or cold) conditions outside of its operating range, such as a parked car, may temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when the device is brought back to ambient temperatures between 32º to 95º F.
For questions, contact the SMARTdesk team.
