Growing up in Chicago and Round Lake, Ms. Alma Tamayo witnessed her parents honor their Mexican heritage in their school districts by teaching baile folklórico, celebrating tradiciones, teaching adult EL classes and more.

Today, as Assistant Director of English Learner (EL) Coordination and Bilingual Supports, Ms. Tamayo is harnessing this inspiration from her parents to support multilingual students and families. Approximately 60 different languages are spoken at Stevenson with our top 5 foreign languages being Russian, Spanish, Telugu, Korean and Mandarin.

Senior Cheerleader Jamie Bohn Brings A World Championship To Stevenson

Gimme a U! Gimme an S! Gimme an A! Go Team USA!

It was an exciting weekend for Stevenson Cheerleading as senior Jamie Bohn was crowned a world champion, along with her Team USA teammates, at the ICU Cheerleading World Championships. This is a huge distinction, particularly since Bohn was hand-picked to be a member of the U.S. National Junior Coed Team.

The competition aired Saturday on the Olympic Channel, and a replay of the gold medal-winning routine can be seen for free with this link. Bohn and Team USA begin their performance around the 2:17 mark. Norway won the silver medal and Mexico took the bronze in this division.
