Diversity is central to Senior Murad Shahzadah’s story. He is proud not only to have a multicultural heritage — his father’s family is from Afghanistan, and his mother’s is from Ukraine — but also to live in a richly diverse community. So when Murad was selected to serve as one of 21 students on the Illinois State Board of Education’s Student Advisory Council, diversity and inclusion became one of his leading priorities.
