Recent Athletics Results
Boys Track & Field
The 4×100 & 4×200 meter relays teams and high jumper Mark Hellwig competed at the IHSA State Track & Field meet. In the high jump, Hellwig matched his personal best jump of 6’0.75” and placed 22nd in the state. Heading into the state meet, the relay team of Zach Goldman, David Smolensky, Marcus Casselberry, and Jimmy Davis were seeded 20th and 21st in the 4×100 & 4×200 events, respectively. In the 4×100, the team tied their season best time, finishing with a time of 43.34 seconds and placing 14th in the state. The same team ran a season best time of 1:30.56 in the 4 x 200 meter relay and finished 10th overall.
Wrestling
Eight wrestlers qualified for the IWCOA State Meet in Springfield on Friday and Saturday as Stevenson won the Sectional title. The team total of 161.5 topped the field of twenty-seven teams. Senior Arad Peregoudov (138 lbs), Junior Cole Rhemrev (132 lbs) and Sophomore Lorenzo Frezzo (120 lbs) all captured sectional titles. Senior Kei Yamato placed second at 126 lbs, Senior Keegan Houlihan and Junior Jacob Whiting both placed 3rd at 285 lbs and 195 lbs, respectively, while Senior Jair Diaz and Sophomore Thomas Schoolman placed 4th at 182 and 145 lbs, respectively. The Girls State Finals are slated for today, and senior Sara Sulejimani will be competing for the Patriots. The Frosh/Soph state finals will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
