Announcing Stevenson’s Daily Digest: Special Editions
While the Daily Digest usually goes on hiatus over the breaks, this summer, we will be distributing special editions of the Daily Digest for athletics! Given that we still have nine more sports teams competing until mid-June, we want to be sure that our entire Stevenson community stays up-to-date on our amazing athletes. Boys Bowling Qualifies for ISBPA State Tournament
Members of the Boys Varsity Bowling team qualified for the Illinois State Bowling Proprietors Association State Tournament. Since the IHSA was unable to host the State Finals this year, the ISBPA organized an event for some of the best programs in the state to compete. The Boy’s Division will bowl on Saturday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Stardust Bowl, in Addison, IL. Ryan Lerman, Ryan Grabiner, Joey Gluck, Josh Lerner, Nicholas Sternes and Ender Starr will be representing Stevenson in the event.

SHS Junior to Compete at Girls Track & Field State Finals
Junior Ella O’Neall will be competing in the IHSA State Finals on Saturday on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. O’Neall qualified in both the shot put and discus, after finishing second in both events at the IHSA Sectional with throws of 12.82 meters in the shot put and 41.86 meters in the discus. Her shot put throw of 13.54 meters earlier this season, is a new Stevenson record. Both events begin at 12:00 p.m. Event results will be available on the IHSA website or through Athletic.net immediately after they are verified by meet officials.

Recent Athletics Results
Boys Volleyball
The varsity boys volleyball team fell in three hardfought sets to the Maine West Warriors (19-25, 25-17, 25-27) in the Regional Semifinals of the IHSA State Series this past Tuesday night. Offensive leaders included Ryan Myers (13 kills with one ace serve), Ethan Holub (13 kills), Akaash Tanjore (five kills), Karl Lutz (six kills with one ace serve), Samuel Nuudel (three kills) and Eric Hartman (three kills). Daniel Nuudel contributed five kills, two ace serves and dished out 38 assists. Defensively, Murad Shahzadah contributed 10 digs and also had an ace serve. The Patriots end their summer campaign with a 18-5 overall record, with a 6-1 conference record.

Wrestling
The Patriots picked up two wins against Jacobs and McHenry on Tuesday night in the Stevenson Stadium. Lorenzo Frezza and Thomas Schoolman won by pin in the 44-31 victory over Jacobs. In the McHenry match, Frezza, Allen Kantor, Arad Peregoudov, Jair Diaz and Will Toscano all won by pin. Their final dual meet of the IHSA season is at Lake Forest today at 4:00 p.m. There are no visiting fans allowed at Lake Forest today.

Girls Lacrosse
Stevenson (11-3) won a close matchup, 10-9, against Libertyville in Wednesday night’s Sectional semifinal game. Lili Sorenson and Teagan Hendricks each scored three goals, while Jordyn Ackerman (two goals), Aliyah Omran (one goal) and Michelle Cabrera (one goal) contributed, as well. Megan Randol made nine saves, including several within the final minutes of the competition to seal the victory. They head to Lake Forest High School (West campus) for the final on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. West campus is located at 300 S. Waukegan Rd. in Lake Forest, IL and admission is free.

Girls Soccer
Stevenson (15-3-1, 6-1) eliminated Warren Township High School in the sectional semifinals of the state playoffs, 4-0. Bella Chevez scored first to put the Patriots on top in the first half. That was followed by a goal from Abby Kalou, assisted by Tess Koleno. During the second half, freshman Eli Egeland found the back of the net twice and was assisted by Abby Kalou and Nicole Schmidt. The Patriots will play in the state playoff sectional final tonight at Libertyville High School at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, but if you’re unable to attend, the match can be viewed at: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/libertyville-high-school-libertyville-il

Boys Tennis
Eric Perkowski remained unbeaten after Day 1 in the IHSA Class 2A State Finals and will meet up with Hinsdale Central’s Noah Hernandez at Hersey High School this morning. The doubles team of Daniel Tulchinskiy/Payton Adkisson won their first two matches on Thursday, but lost 6-2, 6-3 to Hersey. They will face Dominik Kaminski and Mark Ter-Saakyants from Glenbrook South at Fremd High School in the back draw. Also in the backdraw are singles player Ashvath Madhushankar, who will face Casey Hishinuma (Fremd H.S.) at Wheeling High School and the doubles team of Gabriel Visotsky and Ervin Perkowski. Visotsky and Perkowski also won two matches on Thursday, but fell short against New Trier. They will take on Nikunj Tyagi and Akshay Baid from Matea Valley, also at Fremd High School. Boys Track & Field Sectional
The Boys Track and Field team placed 5th at the 16 team Grayslake Central Sectional and qualified athletes for state competition in three different events, the High Jump, the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays. The team of Zach Goldman, David Smolensky, Marcus Casselberry and Jimmy Davis were Sectional Champions in the 4×200 meter relay and were Sectional runner ups in the 4×100 meter relay running season Best times of 1:31.48 and 43.33 respectively. Mark Hellwig was the runner up in the high jump with fellow teammate Stephen Friehammer placing sixth in the event. Shrijan Muralidharan was the only other Patriot to place in a field event, doing so by taking sixth in the triple jump. David Smolensky finished his night by running a personal best time of 22.64 and placing third in the 200 meters. Marcus Casselberry placed fourth and just missed qualifying in the 300 intermediate hurdles running a personal best and new Frosh/Soph School Record time of 41.25. In the distance events, Tyler Roberts placed third in the 3200 with a personal best time of 9:59.94. Check out all the results.
