Students Organize Supply Drive for Chicago School
Junior Nandhini Nair and senior Caroline Mazur Sarocka, recently organized a school supply drive for Chicago Public School students. They exceeded their goal and raised more than $2800 worth of monetary and school supply donations including notebooks, folders, binders, pencils and masks. They are shown here during their donation delivery to John Spry Elementary Community School which is located in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago.
Both students indicated their involvement in co-curricular clubs inspired them to organize this initiative to better the lives of other students. They stated, ” Through our participation in [Future Health Professionals] HOSA and National Honor Society we were continually exposed to the multitude of ways we could serve the community, as well as the magnitude of the impact that community service has on other students.”
These students thank Stevenson Communications Arts teacher Dr. Stephen Heller who worked with them at the onset of the project as well as community members and local stores that provided donations. We applaud these Patriots for showing a Commitment to Others!
