Incoming Freshman Course Selection
Incoming freshman families are invited to attend a virtual course selection meeting between 4-7 p.m on one of the following days:
- Thursday, Jan. 21 (last names beginning with A-I)
- Tuesday, Jan. 26 (last names J-R)
- Wednesday, Jan. 27 (last names S-Z)
An email from Director of Student Services Sarah Bowen was sent yesterday with Zoom links to attend. Following the meeting, families are asked to complete a Course Selection Worksheet by Jan. 29 and this video demonstrates the process to complete this document.
To prepare for fall course selection, incoming families were introduced to Stevenson and the many courses, athletic and co-curricular opportunities available to students during a virtual event on Jan. 13. In case you missed it, the recording of the Incoming Freshman Family Orientation has been posted.
COVID-19 Metrics
Last week while students were receiving instruction in Remote Learning, more than 1,700 saliva samples were dropped off as part of Stevenson’s Population Testing program. This number is expected to increase this week as students return to campus. Anonymized population testing data is posted on the COVID-19 Data tab of the COVID-19 Updates webpage which will be updated weekly.

Stevenson Library Hours – Librarians Available to Chat Live
The upper Information Learning Center (ILC) in the West Building is currently closed but the Digital Library is open and students can chat live with a librarian from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on days school is in session.

Practices Resume for Some Winter Sports Teams
Region nine has moved from Tier 3 to Tier 2 mitigations which means that winter sports classified as low-risk may resume practice under the new mitigation guidelines. Practices for cheer, competitive dance, bowling, fencing, and boys swimming/diving are scheduled to resume later this week.
More information regarding the IHSA season competition start dates will be posted on the IHSA webpage when they are determined.
Girls Badminton Tryout Meeting Today
Girls badminton tryouts begin tomorrow, Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. A virtual meeting will be held today, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. for all interested student-athletes.

Gov. Bill Lee proposes to strengthen a 2011 state law to retain Tennessee third-graders who are struggling to read beginning in the 2022-23 academic year. His goal is to increase the chances of success in middle and high school students but his proposal is drawing criticism.
