Stevenson Senior Named Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois 2020
Senior Katie Wu was selected as the 2021 Distinguished Young Woman of Illinois last month. Katie is the third consecutive Patriot to receive this title following Dora Guo and Emily Kang.

The Distinguished Young Woman Program, formally known as America’s Junior Miss, has recognized outstanding high school students for more than 60 years. Participants compete in five categories, including Interview (25%), Scholastics (25%), Talent (20%), Fitness (15%), and Self-Expression (15%). Each state hosts a local program in which the chosen representative advances to the national program. Katie’s first-place finishes in the Self-expression and Fitness categories helped her win the title and claim $2,000 in college scholarships.
