Community Forum on Marijuana Legalization Tuesday

The Catalyst club’s community forum on marijuana legalization in Illinois, which was postponed by bad weather in January, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the West Auditorium. Admission is free. For more details, and to submit questions in advance, click this link.

Percussion Ensemble Concert Monday Night

The Percussion Ensemble Concert takes place at 7 p.m. Monday in the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.

Choral Guild, Best Buddies Fundraisers Monday

The Choral Guild is holding a fundraiser at Corner Bakery, 445 E. Townline Rd., in Vernon Hills from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Also on Monday, Best Buddies is holding a fundraiser from 3-9 p.m. at the Lincolnshire Culver’s to benefit the Best Buddies Friendship Walk.

The Dance Department’s annual Day of Dance is taking place today in the Performing Arts Center. Dance classes will perform during every class period. For those unable to attend, a live stream of the event can be seen through this link.

Girls Water Polo

Stevenson 17, Lake Forest 3: Ten Patriots scored as SHS (15-0, 3-0) remained unbeaten overall and in North Suburban Conference play, and extended its winning streak to 48 straight games. Stevenson did all its damage in the first three quarters, taking a 7-2 lead after the first quarter, then outscoring the Scouts 10-0 over the next two periods. Kalista Tapas scored four goals, Lauren Maloney had three, and Hanna Cloeter and Maria Mossakowski tallied two apiece. Goalie Anna Mossakowski had eight saves and four assists in the first half, with Maggie Bauwens taking over in the second half and making four saves.

Girls Badminton

Stevenson 18, Zion-Benton 0: The Patriots (16-0, 4-0) continued their march through the NSC, capturing all 15 matches that were played in straight sets. SHS also benefited from three forfeits en route to winning their 39th consecutive dual match. The winning singles players were Shibani Ram (21-2, 21-1), Kaitlyn Lu (21-5, 21-2), Jyotsna Harikrishna (21-9, 21-0), Benna Li (21-1, 21-3), Giuli Nagai (21-5, 21-2), Thivya Sivarajah (21-7, 21-6), Veronica Liu (21-2, 21-1), Julie Zhu (21-4, 21-5), Riya Gyanmote (21-5, 21-5) and Roshini Merneedi (21-11, 21-18). In doubles, the triumphant tandems were Benna and Jyotsna (21-2, 21-3), Kaitlyn and Shibani (21-5, 21-0), Julie and Thivya (21-2, 21-5), Giuli and Veronica (21-12, 21-7) and Roshini and Riya (21-5, 21-3).

Boys Tennis

Stevenson 7, Zion-Benton 0: The visiting Patriots (3-1, 2-0) won every match by a 6-0, 6-0 score. The winning doubles duos were Daniel Tulchinskiy and Payton Adkisson at No. 1, Andy Dong and Arjun Sheelvanth at No. 2, Michael Kim and Thomas Gong at No. 3, and Kevin Fei and Gabriel Visotsky at No. 4. In singles, Eric Perkowski, Nicholas Stec and Daniel Jaworski posted victories.

Allied Soccer “Light It Up Blue” Game Saturday

The annual “Light It Up Blue” Allied Soccer game to benefit Autism Speaks will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Stadium. Stevenson will play Round Lake Beach. Anyone wearing the 2019 Light It Up Blue T-shirt will be admitted for free to the game and the post-game party featuring food, games, and music by the SHS DJ Club. For all others, a $10 donation is requested at the gate. For those unable to attend, a live stream of the game will be available on Stevenson’s NFHS Network page.

Today’s varsity and junior varsity girls lacrosse games against Carmel will be streamed live from the Stadium and can be seen on the NFHS Network. The JV contest begins at 5:30, followed by the varsity at 7. Watch the action on Stevenson’s NFHS Network page.
