22 Performing at All-District Music Festival

Twenty-two SHS students will perform at the Illinois Music Education Association District 7 Senior High Music Festival at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Trier High School. They were among more than 1,800 students from schools throughout northeastern Illinois who auditioned for spots in all-district ensembles last month.

The public concert will feature band, choir and orchestra performances. Tickets are $5 at the door, with children 12 and under getting in for free.

Band students selected include: Allen Beckwith (Bb clarinet), Braeden Foreman (percussion), Reid Harman (bass trombone), Emily Kin (flute,), Jun Ha Park (Bb clarinet), Spencer Smith (trombone) and Andrew Zhuang (bassoon).

Choir students include: Caroline Baldan (soprano), Aleana Bardic (soprano), Nitya Kavuluri (alto), Samhita Madduru (alto), Saumya Malhotra (soprano) and Sarah Strezewski (soprano).

Orchestra students include: Eileen Kang (cello), Bella Kim (viola), Andrew Lee (violin), Andrew Liu (violin), Haoming Song (cello), Delbert Su (cello), Maristella Yim (cello), Katherine Yu (viola) and Erin Yuan (viola).

Help Stevenson Build a Better Website

Stevenson will be redesigning its website during the winter months, with a new look coming in early spring. The last website redesign occurred four years ago. The school is asking parents, students, faculty and staff for feedback on the current d125.org in order to improve the user experience going forward. Anyone interested is invited to take two minutes to complete a five-question, anonymous online survey. The survey window closes Wednesday. Parents Invited to Help With Next PPA Bake Sale

The next Patriot Parent Association Bake Sale is coming up on Wednesday. The PPA is looking for adult volunteers to provide store-bought or homemade treats, and to work the bake sale. Click here to sign up.

All-NSC Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer Teams Announced

Three members of Stevenson’s North Suburban Conference champion girls volleyball team have been named to the all-league squad. Senior outside hitter Sophie Sorenson, junior setter Grace Tully and junior outside hitter Lily Cozzi were selected to the All-NSC Team. Senior middle blocker Annie Armgardt received honorable mention. In boys soccer, three Patriots earned All-North Suburban Conference honors: seniors Zach Klaber, Kai Mayahara and Hunter Tam. Senior Ethan Bende and junior Rei Kubota were honorable mention selections.

Swim Sectional at Stevenson Saturday

Stevenson plays host to an Illinois High School Association girls swimming and diving sectional on Saturday in the Patriot Natatorium. The diving competition begins at 9 a.m., and the races start at 1 p.m. Thirteen teams, including SHS, will compete for berths in the state meet, which will be held Nov. 16-17 at Evanston Township High School. The Daily Herald has a preview of the sectional. This is the first sectional at Stevenson since 2016, when the Patriots last captured a sectional crown. Click here to see results on Saturday. Fans coming to watch the sectional are encouraged to park in lot B and walk through the “circle drive” entrance to get to the Natatorium. Parking in lot D will be challenging due to the Stevenson fencing team’s annual invitational, which starts at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Celebrate Swan’s 50 Years of Coaching at SHS

Stevenson will be celebrating Paul Swan’s 50th year as a Patriot coach at the varsity boys basketball game against Prospect on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the Sports Center. Alumni who played for “Swanee” in any basketball, baseball or football are encouraged to attend. Swan has coached basketball at Stevenson for all 50 years, and he coached football and baseball for 30. A reception will be held in the West Staff Dining Room after the game, and anyone who registers for the reception will receive free admission to the game. Click here for more information and to RSVP. Baseball Fundraiser on Tuesday

The Patriot baseball team is holding a fundraiser at the Lincolnshire Chipotle from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday. Bring in this flyer, show it on your phone, or tell the cashier you’re supporting Stevenson baseball, and 33 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the team.
