Parenting Essentials When Your Child Turns 18

Parents and guardians of seniors going off to college in the fall may not realize that things they take for granted at Stevenson, such as access to grades and health information, aren’t automatically available once their child turns 18.

Find out what you need to do to get access during the Community Parent Network presentation, “Key Ways to Stay Connected When Your Kids Are Legal Adults,” from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday in Room 2104 of the West Building. The program is open to parents and guardians of 11th– and 12th-grade students. Admission is free, but those planning to attend are asked to register through this link.

Representatives of the Shire Law Group will present information parents need to know when their child turns 18, including: gaining access to health and education records, insurance for students studying abroad, and power of attorney.

The Community Parent Network is a parent volunteer committee of the Stevenson Foundation. For more information, contact Mara Grujanac at mgrujanac@d125.org.
