Choral Guild Fundraiser at Go Roma, Choral Concert Today

The Choral Guild is holding a dining benefit at the Lincolnshire Go Roma from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, which is the same day as the Fall Choral Concert. Have lunch or dinner before tonight’s 7 p.m. concert, and Go Roma will donate a portion of the sale to the Choral Guild. You’ll need to present this flyer when ordering.

Boys Golf

Stevenson at IHSA Class 3A Warren Regional: The Patriots finished third behind Mundelein and Lake Forest at Bittersweet Golf Club in Gurnee, qualifying for Monday’s Lake Forest Sectional. Kevin Chin and Jason Gohde led SHS with 78s, followed by  Kamaren Sandhu with a 79. Will Sebastian and Jedi Jhu each carded an 86, and Luke Feder had an 87. SHS had a team score of 321, three strokes ahead of fourth-place Deerfield. Mundelein posted a score of 311 and Lake Forest had 313. – Official Results | Daily Herald

Lake Forest 4, Stevenson 2: Erica Cole scored the Patriots’ first goal on an assist from Megan Lillis. Colie Keane had the other goal, assisted by Sydney Goldberg.

1995 and 1996 Girls Basketball State Champs to be Honored

Stevenson’s back-to-back girls basketball state championship teams from the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons will be honored at the current varsity squad’s game against Lake Forest on Friday, February 6. The champs will be recognized at halftime in the Sports Center, and there also will be a special dinner for them prior to the game. One of the players from the 1995 state champion, Tamika Catchings, told the Daily Herald’s Patricia Babcock McGraw that she plans to retire from the WNBA in 2016.

When technical difficulties jeopardized the playing of the national anthem at Monday night’s varsity girls volleyball match, Patriot players took charge and led the Sports Center crowd in song.

West ILC Looking for Selfies to Promote Teen Read Week

As a way to help promote reading, and sharing students favorite books, we are looking for selfies of kids with their favorite books to create a collage in the ILC window for Teen Read Week next week. The Speech and Drama Team meets at 3:45 today in the East ILC. Come and participate in one or more of 14 different events that span from humorous to dramatic acting, from prose and poetry to original speech writing, from impromptu and political speeches to radio broadcasts. New members, both experienced and inexperienced, are always welcome! Be a part of a friendly team where you’ll have fun and learn life-long, valuable communication skills!

Do you have the talent for surprising your friends by knowing information about sports, art, science, history or another subject? Join the Frosh/Soph Scholastic Bowl team. All freshmen and sophomores are welcome. The first meeting is after school today in 8046. Contact Mrs. Humes or Mr. Fedewa with any questions.

Preseason softball is here! Join last year’s freshman, JV and varsity players for optional morning workouts and weekend open gym sessions. Improve your softball skills, learn an appreciation for the game, make lifelong friends, and develop a sense of Stevenson pride as a member of the Patriot softball program. Juniors and seniors: The following colleges will be visiting Stevenson: University of California-Los Angeles, Augustana College, DePaul University, University of Delaware, Pennsylvania State University, Brandeis University, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, University of Mount Union, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Roosevelt University, Xavier University, DePauw University, Carthage College, University of Chicago, California Institute of the Arts and Carthage College.

A complete list of rep visits can be found on our Naviance site and is updated twice per week; students should get in the habit of checking Naviance and then arranging to secure a pass to visit with these reps. Procedures to sign-up: 1) Find the list of upcoming college visits on your Naviance page. 2) Sign-up for the specific college on Naviance. 3) Print the sign-up confirmation page. 4) Put your ID number on the page. 5) Have the page signed by your classroom teacher at least two days prior to the visit and bring it to the College/Career Center on the day of the visit. 6) Bring the signed page to the CCC on the day of the college visit. If the college visit occurs during your lunch or free hour, follow the same procedure, but no signature is necessary on the confirmation page.

All scholarships that come to our attention will be listed in Naviance under “Scholarship List.” Scholarships will be posted throughout the school year, so check the site often. If you have any questions, please stop by the College/Career Center in Room 1123.
